When Christians Lose Faith
When Christians Lose Faith?
As
Christians we want to believe that there will never be a time when we lose
faith in God. That God we have led so
many to believe in for our own salvation.
Someone asked me recently what exactly does it mean to get some
salvation. Secondly, can Christian lose their faith? I had to ponder both of those questions for a
while. Why? Because, as do all questions
that permeate my heart like these I was going through it myself. It was as if God had sent someone to ask me “If
I had lost my Faith in Him.” Did I? Have I lost my faith in God? Let me back track for a moment. The year 2014 came around and it seemed to be
one of the most trying times of my life.
Every trial, fear, obstacle and breakdown that one person could possibly
experience had entered my life. The only
answer I could give myself or anyone else was life has no favorites it just
keeps moving on with or without you.
Little by little, storm by storm I was losing my faith in a God that I
had held so close to my heart. Somewhere
down the series of days and calendar months that had flipped by I had felt
betrayed by God, condemned, discouraged and just plain beaten down. I couldn’t find my way back against the wind
that rose up against me. The raging
storm that didn’t heed my command to cease.
Everything I thought was solid in my life began to crumble right before
my heart. God! I cried, why have you
forsaken me? I have taught YOUR WORD! Without
compromise. I stood for your truth even if it meant being
alone in the lion’s den. Heaven held it’s
voice. I don’t know about you but have you ever felt this way? My back was up
against the world and it came tumbling down.
Every negative rock that could be thrown had hit right in the center of
my heart. Like anyone being stoned, I
felt defeated, ashamed, afraid and beaten.
Crying out to God. Heaven
remained silent. I was losing faith, no
I had lost my faith, trust and belief that God was well “REAL” maybe I need to
believe in something to help me transform my life. I needed a change something different. Had I fabricated a God in my own mind that
was strong, indestructible. Had I been
foolish enough to follow the religions of the world designed to give people something
to follow, a form of governing. I had to
question it myself. It goes along the lines of the question Why do bad
things happen to Good people? For me, the it was; How could bad things happen
to Christians? We believed! Trusted! Walked
in Faith! Shared the gospel and wholeheartedly believed in it without
question. The Word was the Word and is
the Word. I wanted an answer and God
needed to wake up heaven and earth to explain it to me. I am not the brightest person in the world
but I k now when I need an answer to a question that could cost me my
life. For me it wasn’t just a question
but a real matter of life and death. I
was quickly dying spiritually and physically.
Without my God I couldn’t live and with my God there was purpose. For those of us who solemnly believe that
without God life is non- existence then this becomes imperative to our very existence. My weight had gone up 60lbs that’s right
SIXTY. My health was failing me, headaches, seizures and attacks. I kept silent. I waited for God to answer. Suddenly illness took hold of my household,
my finances had went into the dumps, my husband fell ill and we were
struggling. In the midst of it all we
were building a business. I didn’t know
how to drive couldn’t get a job because of my past, life just kept handing me
rocks for bigger rocks. I was done. You heard me done. Heaven was silent, my life was falling apart
and yes I lost my faith in the journey. Christian’s
do lose faith. We get to a place where
we find ourselves at a lost for faith.
Where do we go from here? When I asked a couple of Christians they all
came up with the same thing. Go back and
ask God to renew your faith, then pray, then read, then just believe it and
trust God. Well, for a Christian who has
lost their faith it takes something a little more simplified. You see for a Christian who has lost their
faith it is hard for them to get down on their knees and pray. We can’t just jump right back in there and
say “Hey God, it’s me I am here to renew my faith!” Somewhere along the journey our hearts have
gotten harden by the belief that God has turned his back on us. We feel stranded, hurt, betrayed and
condemned. It’s that moment on death row
when you know you are going to die and there’s nothing you can do about
it. All hope is gone for survival so you
just accept your fate rather than your faith.
So how do we get back to God? We
start from the beginning. It doesn’t
mean you are that baby Christian again and again but rather you are that broken
vessel, the scattered bones in the desert that needs to be repaired. We need the glue that started it all “Salvation” So now we get back to the first question what
exactly does that darn word mean anyway? It means being protected from risk,
harm, destruction or loss? Well, If
salvation means being protected from these things then Why do we as Christians
go through these very same valleys as anyone else. Do we as Christians suffer risk, harm,
destruction and loss? YEP! We do. So
does that mean that God is a liar? Well I had to ask that question. I know it isn’t very Christian like to
question whether or not God is a liar? But the truth is we all have had this
thought at one time or another and to say we haven’t makes us a liar? What is
means is that we all need protection from destroying, harming and putting
ourselves at risk and loss. God took
away the our sins so we wouldn’t be at risk, capable of being harmed or
destroyed and possibly loose our soul to the enemy, this has nothing to do with
the mechanics of life on earth. Life
will keep on moving on. We have no
protection from that. Life is the
foundation of living and obstacles the consequences of living in this
world. So, is God a liar? No! he has
done his part now we must do our part and take life at face value. Taking away the value that we place on things
into what we place in ourselves as God’s creation first. No we won’t be perfect and certainly life
will never be fair but what we can do is be a hero in our own lives and hope
like FAITH we are able to pass on those things which are profitable. As for renewing our faith that takes
time. We have to start at “in the
Beginning” God created you …. And let Him take it from there is all we can do…
When we make those wrong choices, bad and irreputable mistakes, past sins we
wish we could erase all we can do is say JESUS!
“There is
no condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST.” (Romans 8:1) This is the seal of Christ. (emphasis mine)
I
pray this article helps to transform the lives of someone who may be struggling
with their faith or even may have lost in somewhere in the jungle of life. Keep pushing through the dense trees and the
road back to God will once more reveal itself on the way to Jesus.
Sincerely Lost in Faith

Overcoming 101- Breaking Christians in Critical Condition
This Week- Faith Behind Bars & Beyond will continue it's series in Overcoming 101- This week we will discuss Broken in the Flesh. Have you been feeling completely demolished, Discouraged and Empty? Do you feel God has forgotten you? Thousands of Christians worldwide find themselves in this critical condition. We suffer from church hurts, ministry burn out and just plain I don't think I am called to do this. We feel like we have been left on the side of the corner to rot. Every church, Pastor and leader should listen to this broadcast to discover the state of the Christians sitting on the side lines in your church or ministry who have a burning desire to serve God and can't because there is no room at the inn. This is a growing issue in the Body of Christ. Too many believers are left to die in the wilderness because we don't want to let them in and for others who have started a ministry it seems they just can't seem to get God's word out because they are truly waiting, listening and seeking God.. But their are others taking hold of their ministries lurking about tearing down what they have built. People begin leaving the ministry because they feel that they are the only righteous one's in the ministry. The bible says there is none righteous. We seek to become righteous but in reality we become the very tool the enemy utilizes to destroy the Body of Christ. We stop encouraging and look for problems, issues anything that we can use to kick someone in the ground. We don't think we are but the truth is we have become the source of Breaking Christians. What do we need to do to revitalize those Christians. How can we stop become the one's responsible for breaking Christians and be the one who helps them, encourage them and motivate them. As brethrens and sisters in Christ we are called to take up the charge to lift, love and lean upon one another. No matter who we are, where we came from or what our past looked like it is our job to bring the Body of Christ into one accord. Ask yourself, what is the condition of your church? What state of mind is your church when it comes to serving. Do many of them feel they own the church? Do they dictate who and what goes on? Or does God? Join us this week Friday at 11pm(EST) on Blog Talk Radio on the Spirit Alive Network or call in at 424-675-8300 and join in the discussion.
